TRUSSVILLE – Trussville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Patrick Martin will be the guest presenter at the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024. Martin will be giving Trussville’s first State of the Schools Address.
“It’s going to be real important,” TACC event manager Melissa Walker said. “This is the first official State of the Schools Address that I know of … I think it’s great. We’ve always had State of the City that the mayor does, so now it’s kind of cool that we’ve got State of the Schools. He’s just going to give an update on what’s going on in the school system. I’m sure he’ll have some important information to share.”
The luncheon will be held in the Fireside Room at the Trussville Civic Center, which seats approximately 120 people. Tickets for the luncheon, including lunch and table seating, are nearly sold out, but members of the public who are not able to reserve a spot are still welcome to come and listen to the presentation, Walker said.
Networking will begin at 11:30 a.m., with lunch served at noon. Dr. Martin’s State of the Schools Address is expected to begin around 12:20 p.m.
“At this meeting, we’ll provide our annual report that we’ve put together, Martin said. “It’s our 2024 annual report, but essentially, it’s a year in review. My remarks will center around this year in review, as well as what we look forward to in the year to come.”
Martin said that all members of the school system’s constituent group would benefit from hearing this address, whether in person or on The Trussville Tribune’s livestream.
“I’ve had a chance to share some of this information with our different advisory groups – our student advisory, parent advisory and teacher advisory groups – but really, this is me presenting information for the community of Trussville,” he said. “This is a time for us to share our celebrations as a school system, but also what our needs are in order to stay one of the top school systems in the state of Alabama.”
Martin said the State of the Schools Address is something he’s done in past school systems he’s worked in and considers it very beneficial.
“One of the topics when I interviewed for the position of superintendent was that the community wanted more communication and also more transparency,” he said. “This is an opportunity to provide that.”
