BLOUNT COUNTY — A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 4:10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, has claimed the life of an Altoona man, according to Sgt. Jeremy J. Burkett of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Burkett said a 62-year-old Oneonta female passenger in the Camry was also not using a seat belt and was ejected.
Hicks and the female passenger were both transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for medical treatment. Hicks later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at UAB Hospital.
The crash occurred on Blount County 29 near Rainbow Drive, approximately four miles south of Oneonta, in Blount County.
No further information is available as troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
