MOODY — An Argo man has been charged with the murder of his father and the attempted murder of his mother on Monday night in Moody, according to Moody Police Chief Reese Smith.
“At 11 p.m., Moody police were dispatched to a call for service regarding a possible domestic assault,” Smith said.
Officers arrived at the location and found John D. Bowlin, 61, and his wife Connie L. Bowlin, 60, suffering from gunshot wounds.
John D. Bowlin was pronounced dead at the scene and Connie Bowlin was transported to UAB Hospital where she is in stable condition.
Smith said police have charged the Bowlin’s son, John Adam Bowlin, 35, of Argo, with murder and attempted murder. He is currently in the St. Clair County Jail where he is being held without bond.
“Further investigation led officers to a residence in the 800 block of Argo Margaret Road,” Smith said.
With the help of the St. Clair County SWAT team, officers took John Adam Bowlin into custody.
“We were able to take him into custody without incident,” Smith said. “I’m thankful for that.”
Smith thanked the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, Center for Applied forensics at Jacksonville State University and the police departments of Argo, Odenville and Margaret for their assistance in the case.
