TRUSSVILLE — CrossFit Trussville’s (CFT) new gym plans reveal more than just work out and fitness space, it gives CFT room to expand its current offerings and amenities that members can use – as well as anyone in the community.
Councilman Ben Short reported in Tuesday’s city council meeting that the Trussville Design Review Committee had approved the plans Monday night.
After a devastating fire on May 7, 2023, CrossFit Trussville immediately re-opened inside Gateway Family Church, the very next day in time for the 5:00 a.m. session. Both CrossFit and ReBoot training programs are currently full time inside the church.
Owners Andrew and Candace Rape have made numerous improvements to the church facility itself, as CFT still moves forward. CFT coaches break down thousands of pounds in work-out equipment every Friday evening, including the A/V equipment, to set up for Sunday services. After church activities are finished, the gym is put back together and ready for Monday.
The new gym will be over 12,000 square feet and will offer expanded training sessions as well as numerous programs for youth and adults alike. Non-members will be able to access CFT by using its new physical and massage therapy services, including the brand new Good Grind Coffee Bar.
“We will be more than a gym,” says CEO Andrew Rape, “we hope this building, can change lives in many ways.”
The new building will be large enough for anyone needing an event space for weddings and events, as the new CFT will feature a commercial kitchen for food prep.
The new facility will be rebuilt on the same site on Railroad Avenue in downtown Trussville. Meanwhile, workouts continue at Gateway Family Church at 5450 Mary Munger Road, Trussville. You can learn more about CrossFit Trussville at www.cft.fit or www.crossfittrussville.com.
Andrew Rape continues, “The first 15 years were incredible, the next 15 will be extraordinary. Genuinely. We‘re not just rebuilding. Together, we’re crafting a legacy.”
