CULLMAN COUNTY — A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 12:50 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, has claimed the life of a Logan man, according to Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
“Jerry M. Simmons, 72, was fatally injured when the 2008 Toyota Tacoma that he was driving collided head-on with a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Micah A. Godfrey, 27, of Arley,” Bailey said. “Simmons was not using a seat belt at the time of crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
Bailey said Micah A. Godfrey and the passenger of the Chevrolet, Kelsey Godfrey, 24, also of Arley, were both injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.
“Neither were using a seat belt at the time of crash,” Bailey said.
The crash occurred on U.S. 278 near mile marker 67, approximately 10 miles west of Cullman city limits, in Cullman County.
No further information is available as Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
