BIRMINGHAM — A shooting at the Shell convenience store at 1529 Old Springville Road on Tuesday night left one man dead and a woman wounded and what police believe was a targeted shooting, according to Birmingham Police Officer Truman Fitzgerald.
When police arrived, they found one adult male and one adult female with gunshot wounds in a vehicle that had crashed into the fire station. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel transported both victims to UAB Hospital where the male victim was pronounced dead.
The male victim has been identified as Colby Cade, 33, of Birmingham.
“We believe both victims were at the Shell gas station located at 1529 Old Springville Road when an unknown suspect approached them and started firing shot at the victims,” Fitzgerald said. “We believe the victims were targeted.”
After the shooting, one victim drove both victims away and may have been seeking aid when they crashed into a bay door at the fire station.
None of the firefighters were injured in the incident. There is no one in custody.
Fitzgerald asked for the public’s help in piecing together the events that led to the shooting.
“If you were at the Shell gas station tonight and you saw anything, please, give us a call directly at 205-254-1564 or call Crime Stopper at 205-254-7777.”
