BIRMINGHAM — A Birmingham Police Tactical Unit descended on Grayson Valley and took a Center Point man into custody for the murder of Colby Cade at a Shell station on Old Springville Road, BPD Officer Truman Fitzgerald said.
The female drove from the Shell station to Birmingham Fire Department 30 for assistance. She crashed the vehicle into a bay door of the station. No firefighters were injured and immediately rendered aid to the pair.
Deeric Lewis, 21, of Center Point, was arrested on Thursday, February 8, by officers from the BPD’s Tactical Operations Division at a residence in the Grayson Valley community, Fitzgerald said.
Officers transported Lewis to BPD Headquarters for questioning; he was later booked into the Birmingham City Jail on a 48-Hour Felony Extension.
Birmingham Police detectives presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained warrants for murder, attempted murder, and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.
