A multi-vehicle crash four miles north of Ashville Tuesday morning resulted in one death and multiple injuries, according to ALEA Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey.
Ryan C. Harrison, 36, of Anniston died after his 2014 Kia Optima collided head-on with a 2022 Toyota Corolla driven by Derramus C. Bothwell, 29, of Steele at approximately 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20.
After the initial impact, a 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by Ronald Edouard, 39, of Davenport, Fla. also struck Harrison’s Kia.
As a result of the impact, the Kia left the Interstate 59 roadway and overturned.
“Harrison was not using a seat belt at the time of crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Bailey wrote.
The Freightliner also left the roadway and struck a tree, and debris left in the roadway was struck by a 2018 Volvo tractor-trailer driven by Tajuanna S. Lewis, 42, of Calera.
Bothwell and Edouard were both injured in the crash and were transported to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital for treatment.
