JEFFERSON COUNTY — A teenage girl was killed and four others transported to local hospitals with injuries after a head-on collision in on Wednesday, according to Lt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
On Thursday, Jefferson County Chief Deputy Croner Bill Yates identified Dakota Elizabeth Graves of Morris as the fatality in the crash.
Around 12 p.m. on Monday, deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s were alerted of a crash that occurred near the intersection of Mount Olive Road and Warrior Jasper Road.
“Upon arrival deputies found a pickup truck and a Chevrolet work truck that appeared to have collided head-on,” Money said. “There were three females in the pickup truck, one of which was a teenager. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
The other two adult females were transported to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. One of the two male occupants of the work truck was also transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
“All those who were transported were thought to have non-life-threatening injuries,” Money said.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team was called to the scene to conduct an investigation into the cause and incidents surrounding the fatal crash.
