ST. CLAIR COUNTY — A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 6:35 p.m. Monday, March 4, has claimed the lives of two people, according to Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Bailey said the driver of the Jeep, James E. Lowe Jr., 45, also of Ashville, was critically injured and transported to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital for treatment where he later succumbed to injuries.
“Robinson was injured and transported to Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Clair Hospital, in Pell City for treatment,” Bailey said.
A 51-year-old woman from Ashville, also a passenger of the Jeep, was injured and transported to UAB by helicopter for treatment. Bailey said she was not using a seat belt at the time of crash,
The crash occurred on U.S. 231 near Ivy Drive, approximately four miles north of Pell City, in St. Clair County.
No further information is available as Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
