Facebook, Instagram, and Threads are back online after experiencing widespread outages Tuesday morning.
Posting on X, formerly Twitter, at 11:19 a.m, Andy Stone of Meta Communications said, “Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have difficulty accessing some of our services. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
Hundreds of thousands of users woke up to find themselves locked out of their accounts on the Meta-owned apps, according to Yahoo Finance.
The outages spiked at about 9 a.m. Central time and come as many states, including Alabama, are voting in the Super Tuesday presidential primaries. Social media platforms have been increasingly vital in political campaigns in the 21st century.
