SPANISH FORT — The mountain bike season is under way and the Hewitt Trussville Middle and High School Teams are off to a strong start after each team finished in 1st place in the Alabama Cycling Association’s (ACA) first race of the season. Race 1 took place on March 9 at historic Blakely State Park in Spanish Fort.
In addition to the overall team awards, 10 riders finished in the top 5 in their races, earning podium recognition. An additional 12 riders finished in the top 10 in their race categories:

2nd place – Davis Sharp

JV 2 Girls:
7th place – Evelyn Murphree
JV 2 Boys:

The middle and high school teams also had many riders who finished much higher than their original start positions. Those riders included Brian Elmore (34 places), Nathan Harris (22 places), Alex Woyak (16 places), Nate Dodson (14 places), Oliver Dawkins (10 places), Kaleb Richardson (8 places), Chase Hendrix (8 places), Teague Jones (7 places), Joshua Walker (6 places), Mark Dukes (6 places).
Race 2 of the season will take place at McClellan Trails in Anniston, March 23 and 24.
