TRUSSVILLE–The Trussville Rotary Daybreak Club announced its Don Haisten Student of the Month (SOM) and Teacher of the Month (TOM) for March this week.
Elizabeth Schroeder of Hewitt-Trussville High School (HTHS) was named Student of the Month.
Schroeder is a senior who is involved in Math Team, Ambassadors, Choir, theater productions, and National Junior Honor Society.
She is currently a member of two choirs–HTHS concert and Trussville Community–HTHS Scholars Bowl, the HTHS and YMCA swim teams, and a few book clubs.
Additionally, Elizabeth has received awards for Ambassadors, Choir, and earned all A’s at HTMS.
She also received a medal for the 2022 All-State Middle School Choir and medals in State Choral Performance Assessment (SCPA) ratings with the middle school choir.
In her leisure time, Elizabeth likes to read, swim, and crochet.
Schroeder’s selection for Teacher of the Month was Miriam Vinson, her 7th grade English teacher.
“Mrs. Vinson supported me as a student and helped me to reach my full potential. She was a very kind teacher and made learning very fun,” Schroeder said.
Mrs. Vinson is believed to be the first retired teacher to be selected as a Teacher of the Month.
The SOM/TOM program is sponsored by Full Moon BBQ in Trussville.
