JEFFERSON COUNTY–A Mississippi man was killed and two others were injured last Friday in a two-vehicle crash approximately one mile north of Hueytown along I-59, according to ALEA Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey.
At around 2 p.m., a 2023 GMC Sierra driven by 49-year-old Rafael Andablo of Harlingen, Texas left the roadway, struck a cable barrier, and went airborne.
The GMC collided head-on with a 1998 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by Jamaiyia G. Foote, 30, of Macon, Mississippi.
Foote was pronounced dead at the scene.
Andablo was not using a seat belt at the time of crash and was ejected from the vehicle.
He was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for treatment.
A 3-year-old passenger in the GMC, who was unrestrained, was also injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division will continue to investigate.
