From Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE, Ala.–A total solar eclipse will block out the sun in much of the United States today as it travels through Dallas, Little Rock, and Indianapolis.
Though Alabama is not in its direct path, residents of the state will still be able to see a partial solar eclipse darken the skies this afternoon.
In the Trussville area, the eclipse will begin partially blocking the sun at approximately 12:41 p.m. and will last until 3:18 p.m.
It will hit its maximum coverage for the area–around 88%–at 2 p.m.
If you are planning on observing the eclipse, be sure to wear specially made eclipse glasses as looking directly into the eclipse could cause permanent eye damage.
