IRONDALE – The Shades Valley Mounties defeated Midfield 18-8 on Senior night.
The Mounties (4-23) have had a disappointing spring after coming into the season with high hopes.
“It has been a tough season,” said head coach Darryl Dunbar.
“We were bombarded by injuries before area play which really hurt us.”
Valley showed some glimpses of what could have been Monday night.
J’Caius Moore led the Mounties with three hits, three runs and one RBI.
James Allen had two hits, two RBIs and three runs.
Timothy Nelson had three RBIs.
Clayton Garrison scored three runs.
The Mounties were in a stealing mood against the Patriots.
Valley stole eight bases with Allen, Moore and Moore taking two each. Garrison and Fisher Cook had steals also.
Garrison got the win on the mound. The senior went the distance and gave up four hits and had eight strikeouts on 107 pitches.
“We are looking forward to building around a talented, young group with some great additions coming in next year,” Dunbar said.
