CENTER POINT — With one minute left in the Final Four and a berth into the Class 5A state championship on the line, Center Point’s Jordan Chatman toed the free throw line with the Eagles trailing, 53-54, and hit two free throws to give Center Point the lead for good and send the Eagles into the championship game for the second consecutive season.
Center Point would proceed to fall to Fairfield in the title game, but the loss did little but prove that Center Point remains one of the top teams in Class 5A,
Chatman, a 6-foot-4 junior, concluded a strong 2020 postseason run with a spot in the Class 5A AWSA All-State Second Team. This follows Chatman earning Class 6A All-Tournament honors following a postseason run that began and ended with dominant defensive performances that silenced some of the best teams in the state.
In 25 games played this season, Chatman unofficially averaged 15.2 points per game with six rebounds and two blocks per game, according to Maxpreps.
