TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville Police Department arrested two suspects in connection to a theft at Hall’s Motorsports, off South Chalkville Road.
Christopher Broadax, 20, of Tarrant, and Deontae Jackson, 21, of Birmingham, are both in custody after the incident early on Wednesday, March 18, 2020.
Officers were dispatched after a concerned citizen called 911 in reference to suspicious persons. The call came in at 3:45 a.m. The citizen told dispatchers the people in question took off running when asked what they were doing in the neighborhood. The officers responded to the area and found the people driving a black Jeep Grand Cherokee with a drive-off tag. Four people, two men and two women, were detained. The women were later released, but investigators took the two men into custody.
Detectives believe Broadax and Jackson tried to steal two Polaris RZR side-by-sides. The two vehicles were later recovered, one in a field near Hall’s Motorsports and one off Roper Road. Police said the suspects broke into the fenced-in area at Hall’s and drove the side-by-sides over the fence.
Jackson is being held in jail on $45,000 in bonds and Broadax is being held on $22,500 in bonds. They are both facing charges of criminal mischief first degree and theft of property first degree.
Jackson’s bond is higher because of his criminal history.
Investigators believe the theft is unrelated to a theft that happened in December.
