PINSON — An 11-year-old boy was shot and killed on Friday while turkey hunting in what is being described as an accidental shooting.
The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2020, in the 9100 block of Cedar Mountain Road, which is just east of Emerald Lake. The victim and his father were turkey hunting with a group of hunters when the shooting happened.
Medical personnel rushed to the scene, but attempts to save the child’s life were unsuccessful.
The shooting remains under investigation.
Turkey hunting season within Jefferson County ends on May 3, 2020.
