BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Coroner is working to find the identity and the cause of death for a man found dead on the side of interstate.
The body was found on Thursday, Aug. 13, on the side of Interstate 59/20 South, near the Bush Boulevard exit. Coroner Bill Yates said employees with Birmingham’s Streets and Sanitation department found the body while cutting grass.
Yates said it appears the man suffered some type of trauma but said the cause and maner of death is unknown at this time. An autopsy was scheduled for Friday, Aug. 14.
The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
