WASHINGTON — Two U.S. Senators from Florida are pushing a campaign to keep daylight saving time amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Republican Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott are proposing legislation to stop the time change on Sunday, Nov. 1. Scott said he believes Americans deserve “a little more sunshine” this year.
If passed by Congress, the bill would keep the U.S. on daylight saving time until November 7, 2021.
In 2018 and 2019, Rubio proposed a similar bill called the “Sunshine Protection Act” to permanently do away with the time change and stay on daylight saving time. President Donald Trump voiced support for the bill in 2019.
