HOOVER — The K9 Unit at the Hoover Police Department was given six ballistic vests for working police dogs.
Each four-legged member of the unit will now be outfitted with life-saving vests made by LOF (Line of Fire) Defence Systems out of Edmonton, Alberta.
The police department said LOF donated one vest and anonymous donors provided five more so that all of the police dogs could be protected.
“I’m so grateful to LOF and their donors for outfitting all of our talented K9s,” said Chief Nicholas Derzis. “Our dogs work with their partners every day, and the added ballistic protection is invaluable.”
