TRUSSVILLE — Ten vehicle break-ins in Trussville have been reported this week, said Trussville Police Department Lt. Jeff Bridges.
Bridges said the department is working with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Birmingham Police Department and other area police departments on search warrants of alleged suspects’ homes.
Bridges said a vehicle was stolen from the Peppertree subdivision in Trussville earlier this week. He said a 20-year-old Birmingham man has been arrested by Birmingham police and charged with receiving stolen property after crashing that vehicle into a fire hydrant this week.
Bridges said there may have been more vehicles broken into if victims didn’t complete a police report.
Bridges said some credit cards were taken and used mostly at gas stations in Center Point.
Bridges encouraged all residents to lock their vehicle doors and do not leave valuable items in plain view. He said all break-ins have happened to cars that were left unlocked.
The Argo Police Department is also warning residents of an increase in vehicle break-ins.
