SCOTTSBORO — The Hewitt-Trussville Girls Cross Country team opened the 2021 season with a win at the Black & Gold Classic in Scottsboro on Saturday. The Huskies finished 18 points ahead of James Clemens to top the 15-team field.
Maci Mills was the highest HT finisher as she placed 4th overall with a time of 20:21.81. Kylee Sisk also recorded a top-10 finish as she placed 7th overall. Avery Cahoon finished 11th overall, Hannah O’Kelley placed 13th, and Kinley Harris finished 15th.
The HT Boys finished 4th out of 18 teams in the field. Mitchell Phillips was the top HT finisher as he placed 5th overall with a time 16:12.95. Tristan Teer also recorded a top-10 finish as he placed 9th overall. Thomas Himes placed 24th overall, Rush Lachina finished 28th overall, and Jacob Mullinax finished 54th overall to round out the team scoring. A total of 235 athletes ran in the Boys’ race.
