CLAY — City Manager Ronnie Dixon called the city’s spending balances deflated on Tuesday Jan.4 and said the depletion of funds is because the city’s expenses cost more.
“Everything is holding pretty well, from what we expected,” said Dixon. “If you remember what I told you, what Inflation was going to do to us, our numbers are inflated but the actual money that we have to spend is deflated because we are having to pay more just like the regular consumers.”
Dixon said he has started to cut costs within the city by contacting an internet provider named Telco to allow the city to save more money on their internet services.
The city’s current account balances:
- General Fund – $1,298,962.63
- Vehicle registration – $4,497.08
- Contractor bonds – $155,947.16
- Capital fund – $1,712,591.72
- 45 cent gas fund – $172,669.84
- Rebuild Alabama – $10,000
- Supplement fund – $256,840.98
- Reserve fund – $1,750,000
- BB&T Fund – $61,133.04
- Ballpark Income – $10,822.54
- Ball Park expenses – $10,855.97
For public comment:
Center Point Fire Chief Gene Coleman spoke about the department newest CPR devices called LUCAS and their cardiac monitors. Coleman said the fire station is currently in the process of changing their record management system that’s been around for 20 years.
“It supposed to give us more information and make the responding fire and medical emergency safer for the responders by providing more information,” said Coleman.
Coleman said the new management system will allow responders to key in gate codes, input if there are animals in the home or if an elderly resident lives on the second floor.
Coleman also encourages residents to check their smoke detectors every month and take responsibility to change them every 10 years.
