CLAY — One Clay City Council member’s last day will be June 30.
Mark Halstead is leaving the city council due to a relocation.
“I just want to say I appreciate the opportunity,” Halstead said. “My wife and I are relocating outside of Jefferson County to be with our grandchildren and children.”
Halstead said he would be roughly 50 miles away from Clay, though he has not yet found a new home.
The city council will have until Sept. 2 to appoint someone to fulfill the remainder of Halstead’s term.
Halstead has been a member of the current Clay City Council since November 2012. He also served on the city council from 2004 to 2008. He was also on the city’s Zoning Board of Adjustments from 2000 to 2002 and the Planning and Zoning Commission since 2002.
