TRUSSVILLE — Former Hewitt-Trussville baseball standout Grayson Jones was selected Saturday in the MLB Draft.
Grayson Jones, a freshman pitcher at Shelton State Community College, was drafted in the 14th round by the Cleveland Indians. Jones was the 428th overall selection.
As a freshman at Shelton State, Jones started 12 games, compiling a 5-2 record. He pitched 52.1 innings and had a 3.96 earned run average. He struck out 67 batters.
As a senior at Hewitt-Trussville in 2013, Jones went 4-3 with a 3.18 ERA. He had four complete games, two saves and one shutout. He struck out 87 batters in 66 innings.
