TRUSSVILLE — Trussville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Patti Neill ‘couldn’t exit’ her vehicle after a tree branch falls on her car on Friday, May 6, around 11:10 a.m.
According to the Trussville Police Department (TPD), Neill was in her parked vehicle in front of ACTA by Cahaba Elementary School when a tree branch landed on her car.
“She was in the car, and a branch, due to the wind, snapped off the tree, and it fell on a car where she couldn’t exit,” Lieutenant Clint Riner said.
Riner said Neill’s car sustained minimal damage, and Neill was not injured. The maintenance crew at CES got Neill out of the car.
“It was just where she didn’t want to open her door because opening her door would have caused damage to her car,” Riner said. “So the branches were cut, she backed her car out, and the street department came and cleaned up the tree, so it’s all clear.”
Public Relations Supervisor Jason Gaston also confirmed that Neill was not injured, but her vehicle did have some scratches from the fallen tree branch.
“By all accounts the rescue attempt went well,” Gaston said. “We thank God to have such skilled firefighters and EMS professionals in the city.”
