GULF SHORES — Their names are familiar, their conquests on the football field in in the fall of 2021 undeniable, as four members of the Clay-Chalkville 6A state championship football team won another state title on Saturday.
Jaylen Mbakwe, Nate Owens, Mario Craver and Roderick Alexander won the 6A 4 X 100 relays at the AHSAA state championships here on Saturday, May 7.
Overall, Clay-Chalkville came in fifth in the overall team standings behind first-place Scottsboro, second-place McGill-Toolen, third-place St. Paul’s Episcopal and fourth-place Homewood.
Clay-Chalkville’s girls track team finished eighth out of 32 teams.
