BIRMINGHAM — Five people were killed in five separate shootings over the weekend, and Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates stated that all the shootings are being investigated as homicides.
Moore was pronounced dead at the scene.
Courtney Demond Hughley, 44, of Fairfield, sustained gunshot wound injuries during a reported assault in the 1200 block of 3rd Avenue North in Birmingham on Friday, September 9, at approximately 9:21 p.m.
Hughley was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Nickelas Kristerpher Kelley, 21, of Birmingham, sustained gunshot wound injuries during a reported assault in the 1400 block of Montview Road in Birmingham on Sunday, September 11, at approximately 11:40 p.m.
Kelley was pronounced dead at the scene.
All three shootings that claimed the life of Kelley, Hughley, and Moore are being investigated by the Birmingham Police Department.
Christopher Lamar Tanks, 29, of Bessemer, was one of two persons who sustained gunshot wound injuries during a reported assault at McNeal Park, located at 1931 13th Street North in Bessemer, on Sunday, September 11, at approximately 1:03 p.m.
Tanks was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Bessemer Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Justin Jamond Hendrix, 35, of Birmingham, sustained gunshot wound injuries during a reported assault at Wells Fargo Bank, located at 325 West Valley Avenue in Homewood, on Sunday, September 11, at approximately 12:23 p.m.
Hendrix was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homewood Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
