UPDATE: Reginald Leshawn Green’s family has been located and notified of the death. Jefferson County Coroner’s Office is still searching for the family of Jimmie Dale Evans.

JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Coroner, William Yates, is requesting the public’s assistance in locating the family of the following individuals.
Reginald Leshawn Green, 47, of Midfield, died on September 1, 2o22, at 8:05 a.m. Green was found unresponsive lying in a ditch behind the Midfield Community Center by City of Midfield Street Department employees mowing grass. Yates stated that Green was reportedly homeless/transient.
Coroners say his cause of death has not been determined, but there is no evidence of foul play or trauma. All attempts to identify and locate the family have failed. Green has lived at multiple addresses in southwest Birmingham, Midfield, Fairfield, Dolomite, and Bessemer, dating back to the mid-1990s.
Jimmie Dale Evans, 71, of Tarrant, died on September 5, 2022, at 10:20 a.m. Evans was found unresponsive inside his private apartment by first responders performing a welfare check at the request of the decedent’s friend.
Yates stated there was no evidence of foul play or trauma, and it’s probable he died of natural causes. However, all attempts to locate the family have failed, and there is little known about Evans.
