BIRMINGHAM – Two individuals were arrested yesterday by FBI agents and appeared in federal court, announced U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge Carlton L. Peeples.
According to the indictments, Kilgore illegally possessed a Glock .40 caliber pistol on Jan. 6, 2023, in Cleburne County. Griffith illegally possessed a Glock .40 caliber pistol on Dec. 9, 2022, in Calhoun County.
The maximum penalty for being a felon in possession of a firearm is 15 years in prison.
The FBI North Alabama Violent Crime Task Force investigated the case, along with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and the Oxford Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael A. Royster is prosecuting the case.
An indictment contains only charges. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
