BIRMINGHAM — A Birmingham man died and a woman was injured after an argument led to a shooting on Tuesday, June 20.
At around 8:50 p.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to a shot spotter call in the 900 block of 25 Street Southwest.
Officers arrived on the scene and found the victim, Jarvis Conley Jr., 24, of Bessemer, lying next to a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. As officers continued to search the area, a Birmingham woman was found suffering from a gunshot wound as well.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue (BFR) personnel arrived on the scene pronounced Conley Jr. deceased just before 9 p.m.
BFR transported the injured woman to a local hospital. Her injuries are serious and she is currently in critical condition.
Investigators believe the gunshot victims got into an argument with the suspect when the situation escalated to violence and shots were fired.
Officers were able to talk a person of interest into coming outside of a residence. The person of interest was taken into custody free of incident. The person of interest was transported to BPD Headquarters where he will be interviewed by Homicide detectives.
