BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department reports a shooting investigation is underway after a 15-year-old was shot in the Jones Valley neighborhood, according to Truman Fitzgerald, BPD Assistant Public Information Officer.
“At around 1:30 p.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to a person shot call in the 3100 Block of Parklawn Avenue,” Fitzgerald said. “Officers arrived on the scene and then observed a 15-year-old young male lying off the roadway; he was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.”
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and transported the victim to UAB Hospital. The victim has life-threatening injuries.
“The preliminary investigation has revealed an unknown suspect(s) shot the victim then fled the scene in a vehicle. We believe the victim was targeted,” Fitzgerald saod.
There is no one in custody.
