CLAY – The Alabama Sports Writers Association has released its third basketball poll of the season and both Clay-Chalkville teams are listed.
Coach Jeremy Monceaux and the boys dropped two spots to No. 8 in this week’s rankings, while the girls stayed firm at No. 2 in Class 6A.
A strong defensive effort pushed the Cougars past Leeds 42-30 on Tuesday night. That win will have to be short-lived with two Area 12 games approaching.
Clay-Chalkville will visit Pinson Valley this Friday before hosting Center Point next Tuesday. Those two games will determine if Monceaux can reach the playoffs in his first year.
The Lady Cougars will travel the same area road. Their games start at 6 p.m. with the guys following at 7:30.
Clay-Chalkville owns a 2-0 area record on the girls side. The boys sit at 1-1 in area play.
