BIRMINGHAM – According to reports, A group of three people have been found shot to death in a Birmingham community.
The victims have been identified as 24-year-old Korde Turner, 24-year-old Johnny Griffin and 35-year-old Willie Washington. All three are black males from Birmingham.
Police responded to a home in the Smithfield community around 12:30 p.m. to find three people dead from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. A home on Third Street North is where the bodies were found.
According to a press release, the bodies were discovered around noon today. Authorities believe the three victims were shot late Sunday night as they slept. However, no reports of unusual activity was reported by those in the area.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue declared the victims dead upon arrival. A neighbor notified authorities after finding the victims in the front living room of the residence shortly before noon.
As the investigation continues, those in the Smithfield community have begun gathering to speak out against the violence their community has endured.
