BIRMINGHAM — Two men have plead guilty to corpse abuse in connection with the death of 22-year-old Megan Monroe, a former Hewitt-Trussville student. Monroe’s body was found burning behind a house in April 2014 in the 500 block of 40th Street in Fairfield following her death.
Kenneth Lamar Childers, 28, of Birmingham, and Nathaniel Fortune, 32, of Birmingham, both plead guilty to the charge.
Fortune was sentenced to 10 years in prison. His sentence will run concurrent with other convictions unrelated to this crime.
Childers is set for sentencing on Jan. 7.
