CLAY – For the second straight season and the second time in school history, the Clay-Chalkville girls golf team has reached the sub-state level of the Class 6A girls golf championship.
The Lady Cougars nipped the Lady Huskies of Hewitt-Trussville by four strokes to advance.
Jaycy Nail led the way with a 76. Baleigh Nelson had a 137. Teammates Regan Patterson and Rylee Beck also had solid rounds for Clay-Chalkville.
Nail and Nelson earlier paced the Lady Cougars to the Jefferson County championship. Nail was low medalist and she and Nelson picked up All-County honors.
Sub-state play is May 2-3. State tournament is May 9-10.
Nail, a senior, has committed to play golf at Faulkner University.
Maggie Rasberry is head coach.
The Clay-Chalkville girls team advanced to sub-state play.
The Lady Cougars picked up the Jeffco tourney title as well.
