BIRMINGHAM –Friday night is shaping up to be a violent one in Birmingham as police are investigating three shootings and believe two may be related.
Around 7 p.m., a man was shot in the leg in the 300 block of 72nd Street North. He was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
Officers were later dispatched to a shooting in the 400 block of 64th Place South at about 8 p.m. where they found a victim who had suffered and gunshot wound to the neck. That victim was also transported to the hospital and the condition of the victim is unknown.
Police believe the two shootings may have been related and they are continuing to investigate.
About an hour and a half later, at 9:30 p.m., police were investigating a third shooting incident. The victim, a female, was shot during the course of a robbery, police said. She drove herself to a business on Richard Arrington Boulevard where she called for assistance and she was then transported to St. Vincent’s East.
The robbery and shooting remains under investigation.
