CLAY — Nico Collins, the four-star wide receiver prospect from Clay-Chalkville, revealed his college choice at the high school today via a video presentation.
It’s Michigan.
The 6-foot-5, 205-pound Collins, a three-year starter for coach Jerry Hood, picked Michigan over Alabama, Georgia and LSU.
Collins exploded onto the scene early in his sophomore year and had an offer from Alabama soon after. He had 39 catches for 805 yards and 15 touchdowns as a 10th-grader on the 6A state championship team. As a junior, he grabbed 60 passes for 1,103 yards and 16 touchdowns. Last season, with Ty Pigrome gone to Maryland, he broke in sophomore quarterback Willie Miller and still put up great numbers. Collins had 46 catches for 895 yards and nine touchdowns despite being double-teamed most games.
Collins’ father, Don, is from Michigan and Nico’s grandparents still live there. He also has cousins in the state.
