From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE –UPDATE: St. Clair and Blount removed from winter weather advisory as of 8:14 a.m. Temperatures have risen above freezing in both counties. The advisory has been extended until 10 a.m. for the remaining counties in the advisory area.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has expanded the winter weather advisory area at 6 a.m. on Monday morning to include St. Clair and Blount counties. Blount County schools will delay opening by two hours.
“Expanded the Winter Weather Advisory to include Blount, St Clair, and Talladega counties through 9 a.m.. Really only the northern half of Talladega to be impacted. Already getting reports of slick bridges in Blount,” NWS stated.
Rain moving through the area where some temperatures are still hovering near freezing can produce ice making driving conditions hazardous. Please use extreme caution on the roadways.
Additionally, if you’re planning to travel north, the EMA in Jackson and Dekalb counties have deemed all roads impassable.
Temps should warm quickly this morning and eliminate most travel problems, but motorists should remain weather alert until then.
