BIRMINGHAM — In an effort to track and monitor sex offenders, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will hold a press conference tomorrow at 11 a.m. to discuss the implementation of a “biometric identification” technology.
“As part of this commitment, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is the first agency in the state that has implemented the most accurate and innovative biometric technology in the nation for identifying and monitoring convicted sex offenders – SORIS™, and for identifying repeat offenders – I.R.I.S.™,” the sheriff’s office stated.
The press conference will be held at the Metro Area Crime Center located at 2200 Reverend Abraham Woods Jr. Blvd. in Birmingham where there will be a demonstration of the technology.
Sheriff Mike Hale will be present with Sean G. Mullin, who is President and CEO of BI2 Technologies, to discuss ” how this new technology will enhance the ability of the Sheriff’s Office to identify inmates and track sex offenders.”
