TRUSSVILLE – On Monday evening, May 21, during the regular May board meeting, the Trussville CIty Schools recognized Board President, Sid McNeal, for his service to the Trussville City Schools.
McNeal was honored for his nine years service on the Board of Education and was presented with a framed picture and his two name plates while on the board.
Many board members shared their appreciation and memories serving with McNeal.
“Thank you Mr. McNeal,” said Superintendant Pattie Neill. “I appreciate your leadership, your service, your friendship, and the fond memories we made while working together to move this system forward. We will miss your wisdom and your analytical ability to understand all situations.”
Newly elected Board President, Kathy Brown, said, “Your leadership has meant the world to me,” she said. “Especially coming on to the board. This is my third year. Just to donate that much time to the City of Trussville and its school system, we are grateful.”
Other members took turns to speak in honor of McNeal’s service to the community.
“Just a few years ago,” said Board member Bill Roberts. “Going into the Cahaba school you had to put a mask on to go inside. Today we have one of the most beautiful campuses in the world. I remember the football stadium was condemned, now we have one the most beautiful football stadiums in the country. I remember kids driving five miles a day to the high school to practice. Now we have a bridge crossing the Cahaba. All this has happened in the short period of time Sid has been on the board. When you look at the things that have been accomplished in our school system, I commend you.”
Following the Board meeting, McNeal was honored at a reception.
McNeal served on the Trussville City Schools Board of Education from 2009-2018. During this time, McNeal served two terms as Board President as well as two years as Vice-President.
