PINSON — A ten-year-old girl from Pinson was reported missing early this morning but was later found safe by deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Blount County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to the 4200 block of Northgate Trail at 2 a.m. this morning on a report of a child and her dog that had gone missing from their home. A search of the neighborhood was unsuccessful.
K-9 personnel were called to the area and Blount County Sheriff’s Office deployed a drone with forward looking infrared cameras. As the search was being conducted, 911 operators received a call from a convenience store clerk at Alabama Highway 79 who reported that a girl was seen sleeping behind an ice machine box outside the store.
Deputies arrived at the store and found that she was the child that had gone missing. She and the dog were returned unharmed to their family.
