TRUSSVILLE — Trussville city council approved the hiring of John Jerard Baker as the new baseball director for Trussville Parks and Recreation.
Baker believes the main focus is to get the kids out there and making sure they have no worries besides executing baseball and having fun.
“My ultimate goal is to make sure the kids have fun. I’ll make sure that the fields are up to standard and the right people are in place to help the kids have great time out there,” Baker said.
Baker will not work alone as he will have Hewitt-Trussville head baseball coach Jeff Mauldin helping him with most of the on field work with his coaching staff as well as players from the high school assisting as coaches.
The duties that Baker will have to to assume will be ensuring the fields and facilities are up to quality, organizing leagues and scheduling practices and games.
“I’ve got to make sure that we are running smoothly in all areas. Whether that’s on the field or off the field work,” Baker said.
