Cow patty drop raises funds for HT athletics
By Gary Lloyd
Hewitt-Trussville Athletics will make a $10,000 deposit because a cow, well, made its deposit.
The Hewitt-Trussville Athletic Foundation hosted its first annual cow patty drop Saturday at Jack Wood Stadium, where 100 squares were purchased for $100 apiece
. A well-fed cow, Bell, was released on the field to do its business.
Its first dropping landed in a square purchased by Rick Holcombe, earning himself a $2,000 prize. He donated his winnings back to the athletics program, which raised $10,000.
The funds raised will be used for athletics needs, including baseball facility upgrades, softball locker room improvements, soccer field light expenses, to offset camp fees for several teams and other projects.
