AUBURN – The city of Auburn is reporting that a shooting incident occurred in the 200 block of West Magnolia Avenue, near Toomer’s Corner, on Sunday morning at around 2:24 a.m.
According to police one victim is dead, a 20-year-old male from Tuskegee, and four others were injured from the gun fire.
Three of the victims were transported to East Alabama Medical Center, by ambulance, to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. They are a 17-year-old male from Opelika, AL, a 19-year-old female from Opelika, AL, and a 21-year-old male Auburn University student from Hilton Head, SC. One 16-year-old male from Opelika, AL was also flown to Piedmont Columbus Regional Medical Center by air ambulance with serious injuries.
Early reports indicate that an altercation occurred right before there was an exchange of gunfire. The Auburn Police Division believes that the event is not a random shooting, however the matter remains under investigation.
