From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE –An internet post and a phone call to Birmingham police of a possible abduction from the Academy Sports parking lot sent Trussville police into investigative mode on Friday.
So far, officers have found nothing to substantiate the story, Lt. Phil Dillon said.
The story making the rounds on social media said a screaming woman was abducted at gunpoint and pushed into a white vehicle in the shopping center parking lot.
A call is believed to have been made to Birmingham police, who turned the information over to Trussville police.
“We haven’t found anyone that saw anything or talked to anyone with first-hand knowledge of the alleged incident,” Dillon said.
Trussville officers spent the afternoon investigating the claim, but have found no evidence to support it at this time.
“We will continue to investigate, and if anyone has any first hand knowledge, I would urge them to call us,” Dillon said. “But as of now, we’ve found no evidence of an abduction.”
