SHELBY COUNTY — A young man from Georgia was jailed after he allegedly threatened a girl’s family with financial harm, physical harm or to have them deported if she refused to send him sexually obscene photographs.
According to court documents, 19-year-old John Vhrix Gagarin was charged with electronic solicitation of a child, two counts of sexual extortion and obstruction of justice for giving a false ID to avoid arrest.
Court documents said that Gagarin got in touch with the girl, who is a child, through a cell phone and attempted to meet with her and engage in sexual acts. The same documents said that Gagarin threatened the girl’s family if she did not comply with his demands. The threats included physical harm and Gagarin is alleged to have said, “Your parents will be dead.”
Gagarin was booked into the Shelby County Jail with a $140,000 bond.
