From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE – The Trussville Police Department participated in the annual Spina Bifida Association of Alabama Bowl-A-Thon over the weekend at SPARETIME Bowling Alley in Trussville.
According to the Spina Bifida Association, Spina Bifida is the most common permanently disabling birth defect in the United States. This condition occurs when a baby is in the womb and the spinal column does not close all of the way. The Spina Bifida Association also said that around eight babies are born in the United States everyday with Spina Bifida or a similar birth defect of the brain and spine.
“It was a great event with a record number of teams entering the event,” said Lt. Phil Dillon of the Trussville Police Department. “Thanks to our sponsor, Deerfoot Shell and Paul Carruth, for their support.”
